Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  • APPS - Academic Journal of Applied Linguistics and Languages publishes double-blind peer-reviewed scientific papers with focus on applied linguistics as an interdisciplinary field that identifies, surveys, and offers space for discussions and solutions to language research-related real-life topics. It covers the following professional fields: linguistics, applied languages, language teaching and acquisition. Paper content shall comply with the areas covered by the journal.

    The publishing languages are English, German, French, Czech or Slovak. However, each paper requires a title, an abstract of up to 250 words and keywords in English. Length of the paper is up to 54,000 characters, including spaces. For submitting your paper, please use the template that you can find here.

    All references in the text must be marked in compliance with the standards, i. e. the source of information must be put in brackets: (Surname of the author, year, page). For example: (Smith, 2021, 170). Parenthetical citation: Text …… and linguistics (Cook, 1990). Narrative citation: Veverková et al. (2008) note that in recent years, …… Text ….. which used Meier et al. (2008, 2009) in their experiments. Text …… (Crystal, 1994a).

    The author of the paper is responsible for its originality. The paper cannot be published or sent to other journals, not even in another language. 

    Submission of the paper

    • Authors upload their submission directly to the Journal editorial system website. To submit your paper, use the following link: https://ojs.tuzvo.sk/index.php/apps/index
    • Authors are supposed to be registered. On completing the registration process, the Author is taken directly to User Home, which lists the various roles the user has within the Journal (e. g. Author, Reviewer, etc.). Clicking on the role of Author will take users to their submissions page, where a list of current and past submissions is available, and where a new submission to the journal can be initiated. The submission process for the author is divided into five steps. After going through all the steps, the paper will be submitted, and the editor of the Journal will contact the author.
